The Laune Rangers Annual General meeting took place on Saturday night last 14th December in our clubrooms. There was a good attendance and a number of issues were discussed and debated. There was a changing of the guard in a number of officer roles. We would like to thank the outgoing officers for all of the time and effort they put in to the club in their roles, and we hope that their sabbaticals don’t last too long and that we see them back in the hub of club activity in the not too distant future.
There was no winner of this week’s jackpot of €2600. The numbers drawn were 1 – 7 – 13 – 26. Consolation prize winners were as follows: €100 Danny O’Sullivan Tullig sold by Margaret Browne, €50 John Teahan Ballycleave sold by Kerry O’Connor, Credit Union vouchers Donal & Josephine Teahan Glenbeigh sold by Kerry and Ann Marie Galvin, sold by Johnny Galvin. The Jackpot now rolls over to and next week’s pot is €2800.
2014 is a landmark year for the Laune Rangers club, when we celebrate 125 years of championship football after Laune Rangers won the very first County Championship in 1889. It also marks the 25th anniversary of the 1989 Co Championship winning team. Preparations have now begun for the celebrations and we are looking for Laune Rangers memorabilia and photos that may be in the houses around the parish to display on a night of celebration to be held early in the year. More details to follow in coming weeks but as houses are cleaned for the visit of Santa, old photos and memorabilia may be discovered so keeps eyes peeled!
Since January 2013, it has been mandatory for players in age grades up to and including minor to wear a mouth guard in all Gaelic Football practice sessions and games. From January 1st 2014, this rule will apply to GAA footballers in all grades.
