UNDER 16 GIRLS: Laune Rangers Under 16 Girls were defeated in the County League Semi Final against local rivals Beaufort on Thursday evening last. Beaufort opened the scoring just two minutes into the game with a well taken goal, but Laune Rangers responded well led by 2-3 to 1-0 after 13 minutes – all o Rangers scores coming from Fodhla Houlihan. Beaufort were back to within two points of Rangers by the quarter mark with another goal and their first point (a free) of the evening. With fifteen minutes played, Laune Rangers led by 2-3 to 2-1. Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 3-4, Beaufort 3-3. Apart from two Fodhla Houlihan points (1 free), Beaufort began the second half as they ad finished the first, dominating the scoreboard. The pointed three in succession and added two goals to lead by 5-6 to 3-6 with 15 minutes to play. Laune Rangers reduced the deficit to just two with four unanswered points Fodhla Houlihan (2, 1 free), Nessa Healy & Orla O’Brien, but a 6th Beaufort goal was a hammer blow to Rangers as time expired. A Cassie O’Sullivan point for Rangers was cancelled out by a Beaufort before the final whistle to see Beaufort through to the County League Final. Final Score:- Laune Rangers 3-11, Beaufort 6-7. It was ultimately a disappointing evening for a young Laune Rangers side who had a number of U14s making up the team. They came up short against a stronger Beaufort side on the evening. Best for Beaufort was Maggie West, a product of the Laune Rangers system who wore the royal blue until the beginning of 2017. For Rangers, the younger players all stepped up admirably, while Rachael Evans had her usual big performance at midfield. Orla Dunphy was outstanding at the back, sweeping up everything that came her way. However, with a tally of 2-8 to her name, Fodhla Houlihan was unplayable throughout the game, even when receiving special attention from the Beaufort defence late on. Laune Rangers:- Lucy Cahill, Grace Garland, Claire Fealey, Christina O’Brien, Aoife Nash Freeman, Andrea Nolan, Orla Dunphy, Rachael Evans, Alanna Dolan, Milly Foley, Nessa Healy (0-1), Orla O’Brien (0-1), Cassie O’Sullivan (1-1), Fodhla Houlihan (2-8, 5f), Aine Nash Freeman. Sub: Sophia Doherty.

UNDER 14 BOYS BLUE: Well done to the Laune Rangers Under 14 Blue team who defeated Na Gaeil in impressive fashion in the Central Region Under 14 Division 1 Semi Final. They will play Kerins O’Rahilly’s in the Final of the competition – details to be finalized.

UNDER 14 BOYS WHITE: Laune Rangers claimed the Central Region Under 14 Division 4 title on Monday evening, as they produced a fantastic second half display to defeat Austin Stacks in an exciting Final in Austin Stack Park, Tralee. The First Half was a tight affair, with Rangers hitting three goals to take a minimal lead into the break. Stacks scored the first goal of the game after three minutes, but Rangers were soon level with a well taken Rian O’Sullivan goal. Stacks pointed to go ahead once more, but Rangers replied with a second goal through Oisin Lynch to take the lead. Stacks added a point before Rangers had the ball in the net for a third time – Joe Cronin Langham finishing a great team move with an excellent goal. With a quarter of the game played, Laune Rangers led by 3-0 to 1-2. Jamie Healy registered Rangers’ first point of the game in the 20th minute, but four points by Austin Stacks in the 2nd quarter saw Rangers holding the lead by the slightest of margins at the short whistle. Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 3-1, Austin Stacks 1-6. Laune Rangers had the benefit of the slight breeze that was blowing for the second half, and made full use of it from the outset. Rian O’Sullivan pointed to finish a great move on the right flank. Austin Stacks were soon level with two points (1 free). Rangers bounced back again though, and Oisin Lynch hit the net for a fourth Rangers goal before the same player pointed a free. With a quarter of the game to play, Laune Rangers led by 4-3 to 1-8. The final period of the game was dominated by the Killorglin men, as they won every individual battle across the field. Rangers went on to score seven unanswered points to put the game out of sight – Darragh Evans (2), Joe Cronin Langham, Dara Clifford, Oisin Lynch, Stevie Gannon and Rian O’Sullivan all on target before Lynch completed his hat-trick for Rangers’ fifth goal of the game. Austin Stacks scored the final point of the game with the games final kick. Full Time Score:- Laune Rangers 5-10, Austin Stacks 1-9. It’s difficult to pick a stand out player on the day for Rangers, as there was so many phenomenal performances across the field. Shane Kelliher settled into a new position at goalkeeper to give an solid showing as the last line of defence. James Prendiville played a captains role from full back, marshalling all in front of him and growing into the game as it progressed, Oisin Lynch was outstanding at the front, providing the attacking threat from anywhere inside the 45 yard line. All five U12s that came in as cover played well, especially Niall Tadhg O’Brien who was excellent at corner back. The midfield pair of Joe Cronin Langham and Cillian Buckley were the perfect link from defence to attack, with Buckley in particular making some excellent high catches and distributing for others to score. Well done also to the management team of Paudie O’Shea, John Clifford, & Patsy Joy. Laune Rangers ‘White’: Shane Kelliher, Niall Tadhg O’Brien, James Prendiville (capt), Senan O’Meara, Colin Griffin, Tom Garry, Oisín Birmingham, Joseph Cronin Langham (1-1), Cillian Buckley, Darragh Evans (0-2, 1f), Eoghan Joy, Oisin Lynch (3-2, 1f), Rian O’Sullivan (1-2), Cian Fogarty, Jamie Healy (0-1).
