SENIORS: The long awaited local derby between Laune Rangers & Mid Kerry in the County Senior Football Championship Quarter Final took place on Sunday last. Unfortunately, Mid Kerry came out on top in a pulsating game. With 8 minutes left on the clock, a Laune Rangers penalty scored by Ryan Keane brought the Killorglin side back to within three points, but Mid Kerry replied immediately with a counter-attacking Gary Sayers goal after Rangers had left themselves open at the back in the search for an equalizer. Mid Kerry went on to add decoration to the scoreboard in injury time and the eight point difference in the end didn’t do Laune Rangers justice. Final Score: Mid Kerry 2-14, Laune Rangers 1-9. Laune Rangers team: Tony Lyons, Kieran Crowley, Johnny Carey (c), Keith Sheehan, Ryan Keane (1-0), John Sheehan, Chris Riordan (0-1), Shane Daly, Maurice Foley, Peter Crowley, Shane McSweeney (0-1), John Tyther, John O’Shea (0-2, 1f), Pa Joy (0-1), Michael F Russell (0-3, 2f). Subs used: Daniel Macbeth, Paudie Murphy, Colm O’Shea, David Costello (0-1).
