UNDER 16: Laune Rangers Under 16s began their Mid Kerry Championship campaign on Bank Holiday Monday in Keel with a comprehensive victory over Keel/Listry. The competition is a league-based format with all teams to play each other once, and the top two teams at the end to contest the final. An outstanding attacking performance by the Laune-siders was aided by a disciplined effort by the Rangers rearguard who conceded just two points in the game – one in each half. However, it was the attack that overawed the Keel/Listry defence on the day with all six forwards and both midfielders getting on the scoreboard in the first half. There were five goals in total for Rangers scored by Eoin O’Sullivan, Shane Doona, Daragh O’Connor, Mark O’Connor and Half Time substitute and debutant Sean Cleary. Sean joined his older brother Dáire on the scoreboard as the latter finished with 10 points (seven from play). Laune Rangers: Jack Evans, Cormac Doyle, Conor Murphy, Oisin Daly, Sean Arthurs, Liam Croke (0-1), James Hurley, David Mangan (0-1), Kevin Fitzpatrick (0-1), Ronan O’Shea (0-2), Dáire Cleary (0-10, 3f), Daragh O’Connor (1-3), Shane Doona (1-1), Eoin O’Sullivan (1-0), Mark O’Connor (1-2). Substitute: Sean Cleary (1-0).
