UNDER 16 BOYS: A familiar rivalry was restored on Monday evening as Laune Rangers hosted Glenflesk in the County Under 16 League. These two teams contested the two main Finals at the U14 age grade in 2018 – Glenflesk winning the County League Division 1 title with Rangers claiming the Féile crown. Rangers got off to a great start and led by 1-3 to 0-0 in the opening minutes, as Oisín Birmingham hit the net for a goal to accompany points by Jack O’Sullivan and Eoghan Hassett (2). Glenflesk got into the game then though, and outscored Rangers 0-4 to 0-1 (Eoghan Hassett) in the remainder of the first quarter to leave the hosts leading by a goal at the 15 minute water break – Laune Rangers 1-4, Glenflesk 0-4. Glenflesk scored the next point but Rangers then hit six in succession to take a commanding lead – Ciarán O’Sullivan, Jack O’Sullivan, Tom Whittleton, Darragh O’Grady, Cillian Foley & Eoghan Joy all pointing for the Laune. Another Glenflesk point temporarily stalled the Rangers momentum but further points by Eoghan Joy and Darragh O’Grady gave their side the lead by nine at the break. Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 1-12, Glenflesk 0-6. Laune Rangers continued to impress, scoring three points in the opening five minutes of the second half – Oisín Birmingham, Jack O’Sullivan and Eoghan Hassett with the scores – before this was nullified by Glenflesk’s first goal, while they added a further point to reduce the gap to eight points. Jack O’Sullivan pointed for Rangers to leave his side leading by 1-16 to 1-7 at three quarter mark water break. A point by substitute Oisín Lynch for Rangers was sandwiched between a brace by the visitors, but Rangers scored twice more through Darragh O’Grady and Eoghan Hassett to leave them nine ahead with time up. Glenflesk scored two late goals to bring the sides closer on the scoreboard, but Rangers did enough to claim the win. Full Time Score:- Laune Rangers 1-19, Glenflesk 3-9. Laune Rangers Team:- Adam Carey, Aona O’Shea, Eoin Lynch, Killian Spillane, Oisín Birmingham (1-1), Ryan Diggin, Cathal O’Callaghan, Ciarán O’Sullivan (0-1), John Burke, Tom Whittleton (0-1), Eoghan Hassett (0-5), Eoghan Joy (0-2), Darragh O’Grady (0-3), Jack O’Sullivan (0-4), Cillian Foley (0-1). Subs: Oisín Lynch (0-1), Joe Cronin Langham, Tim Mangan.

The wider the net we cast, the more fruitful the return! Of course, important aspect to the Ice Cream Challenge is the donation to Charity. We have three very deserving charities in place:-
  • Down Syndrome Ireland
  • Irish Pilgrimage Trust
  • St Francis Special School, Beaufort
Please help us make the most of our challenge, and take part. EAT – POST – DONATE – NOMINATE!!! https://www.gofundme.com/f/ice-cream-challenge
