APPOINTMENT!: This week, the Laune Rangers Executive met to ratify our new Senior Management Team. We are proud to announce that Liam Hassett will take the helm as Senior Manager with Pierce Prendeville, Terence Houlihan and Johnny Lynch as his Senior team selectors, while Moyvane man Kieran Stack has joined the team as physical trainer.
Our new Senior Management Team also introduces a Development Team structure to the senior setup. As part of this new structure, Joe Hayes has been appointed as B team manager with William Byrne as U21 manager. John O’Sullivan, Pa O’Sullivan, Tim Brosnan & Declan Evans join them as development team coaches, and Tim Cronin joins the team as Kit man. This structure should enhance the performance of both A and B teams as well as nurture and develop those players coming into Senior grade football from minor level.
We wish Liam and his management team all the best for the year ahead, and of course we hope to see all our supporters out cheering our teams in the upcoming League and Championship campaigns.

CELEBRATIONS: 2014 is a landmark year for the Laune Rangers club, when we celebrate 125 years of championship football after Laune Rangers won the very first County Championship in 1889. It also marks the 25th anniversary of the 1989 Co Championship winning team. Preparations have now begun for the celebrations and we are looking for Laune Rangers memorabilia and photos that may be in houses around the parish to display on a night of celebration to be held on Friday, 14th March. If anyone has items or photos and are willing to lend them to Laune Rangers for use in the exhibits, please contact Club Chairman Declan Falvey on (087) 2185216 or Secretary Terence Houlihan on (087) 9788003. Alternatively items can be brought to Mulvihills Pharmacy in Killorglin in an envelope with the owner’s name, address and contact number so that they can be returned. In the case of photos, they will be scanned to computer and returned to the owner in the same condition it was received.
As part of our 125 year celebrations, our very unique Selection competition is still open for entries. Laune Rangers are offering all interested the chance to be a team selector….. to pick the team of the past 50 years, which will be picked by our panel of experts and announced on our gala night in March. Entrants have the chance to pick what they think is the best team of GK, 6 Backs, 2 Midfielders, and 6 Forwards to have lined out for the club in championship football over the past 50 years. This is sure to create debate and discussions all over the parish so don’t miss out on your chance to have your say. To enter, all you have to do is pick up an entry form from Falveys, Bunkers, Francie Sheahans or O’Sheas Bars. Entries cost €5 and completed entries can be returned to the above or to Mulvihills Pharmacy.
GAA BLACK CARD MEETING: This will be held at CYMS, Killorglin on February 4th, 2014 at 8pm for Mid Kerry & West Kerry referees and coaches and trainers of all GAA teams. Players and supporters also welcome.
