2014 is a landmark year for the Laune Rangers club, when we celebrate 125 years of championship football after Laune Rangers won the very first County Championship in 1889. It also marks the 25th anniversary of the 1989 Co Championship winning team. Preparations have now begun for the celebrations and we are looking for Laune Rangers memorabilia and photos that may be in the houses around the parish to display on a night of celebration to be held early in the year. More details to follow in coming weeks but as houses are cleaned for the visit of Santa, old photos and memorabilia may be discovered so keeps eyes peeled!
As part of our 125 year celebrations, you are invited to enter our very unique competition!!! Laune Rangers are offering all interested the chance to be a team selector….. to pick the team of the past 50 years! Entrants have the chance to pick what they think is the best team of GK, 6 Backs, 2 Midfielders, and 6 Forwards to have lined out for the club in championship football over the past 50 years. This is sure to create debate and discussions all over the parish so don’t miss out on your chance to have your say. To enter, all you have to do is pick up an entry form from Falveys, Bunkers, Francie Sheahans or O’Sheas Bars.
