LOTTO: Lotto Results for Sunday 21st July 2019. There was no winner of the €8,400 jackpot. The numbers drawn were 17 – 23 – 24 – 31. The Consolation Prizes were won by the following: €100 Ann T Moriarty - sold at CYMS; €50 Dan Horgan - sold by Pat Pigott; €25 Eoghan O'Grady - standing order; €25 Chippy O'Connor - sold by Kerry. Next week’s Lotto Jackpot will be €8,600.

SENIOR: Laune Rangers returned to winning ways on Saturday evening as they comfortably defeated Tarbert in the County League, played at Shannon Park, Tarbert. There was little between the teams in the early exchanges, as the first scoring chance was produced by the home side, although the goal chance was excellently pushed away for a 45 by goalkeeper Padraig Ahern. Patrick Daly opened this scoring with a point for Rangers, but it was soon nullified by a point for the hosts. Rangers scored their first goal of the game in the 11th minute, as David Costelloe came upfield to finish excellently to the net. Tarbert pointed a second score before Rangers goaled for the second time – Daragh O’Connor palming to the net from a superb lateral kickpass by Dáire Cleary. With fifteen minutes played, Rangers led by 2-1 to 0-2. Patrick Daly scored a super point before Tarbert cancelled it out with one of their own. Dáire Cleary & John Tyther points for the Laune were met by a brace by the hosts. Rangers may have had this game wrapped up by the break, but for three point blank saves by their goalkeeper from Dáire Cleary, Pa Daly & Kieran Doona respectively. However, Rangers still had a solid lead at the short whistle. Half Time Score:- Tarbert 0-5, Laune Rangers 2-4. Rangers captain John Tyther pointed again for Rangers before Tarbert replied with a pointed free. Laune Rangers’ third goal came from a wonderous finish by Daragh O’Connor, while Dáire Cleary & Shane Daly added points soon after. Laune Rangers’ Mikey O’Sullivan sustained an elbow injury that saw the game held up for about ten minutes, and Rangers closed the game out on the restart. The hosts added three points before the end, but Rangers scored points through Fiachra Clifford, Shane Doona, Shane Daly (2), Dáire Cleary & John Tyther to see them home. Full Time Score:- Tarbert 0-9, Laune Rangers 3-13. It was a much needed win for Rangers that keeps them in the hunt for promotion. As the final League game versus Valentia has been conceded by the Islanders, a win next week’s crunch home game against Churchill will ensure they go up. One unfortunate aspect of the game was the dislocated elbow sustained by Mikey O’Sullivan. Many thanks to Tarbert club and especially Joe Coolahan who stepped in to ease some of the distress on our player. Laune Rangers:- Padraig Ahern, David Costelloe (1-0), Jonathan Carey, Conor Murphy, Patrick Carey, Cormac Johnston, Michael O’Sullivan, Jack O’Connor, Shane Daly (0-3, 1f), John Tyther (capt, 0-3), Kieran Doona, Darragh O’Sullivan, Daragh O’Connor (2-0), Patrick Daly (0-2), Dáire Cleary (0-3, 1f). Subs: Fiachra Clifford (0-1) for D O’Sullivan, Shane Doona (0-1) for P Daly, Eoin Clifford for M O’Sullivan.

SENIOR FIXTURE: Laune Rangers host Churchill on Sunday afternoon next for Round 10 of the County Senior Football League. Throw in 2pm in JP O’Sullivan Park, Killorglin. As our Round 11 opponents Valentia have withdrawn from the competition, the Churchill game will be our last fixture in this year’s County League and a win would secure promotion to Division 3. All Support greatly appreciated.

SENIOR LADIES: Laune Rangers Senior Ladies defeated Ballmacelligott on Wednesday evening last. Ballymac 2-3, Laune Rangers 1-8. They went on to defeat Moyvane on Monday evening:- Moyvane 2-5, Laune Rangers 1-11.

JUNIOR: Laune Rangers hosted Gneeveguilla on Friday evening in the last round of games in the County Junior League. With 5 minutes to play, the game was abandoned due an accidental clash of heads between two players – both requiring stiches but thankfully avoiding a serious head injury. As Rangers were leading by 1-10 to 0-4 at the time, the result of the game stood and Rangers progress to the League Semi Finals.
