The Laune Rangers representatives on the Mid Kerry Under 16 Boys and Minor Ladies teams that became County Champions this week!

LOTTO: Lotto Results for Sunday 16th September 2018. There was no winner of the €10,200 jackpot. The numbers drawn were 12 – 20 – 22 – 27. The Consolation Prizes were won by the following: €100 Patricia O'Carroll - sold by Diarmuid O'Sullivan; €50 Chris Fleming - sold by Pat Foley; €25 Sean Roche - sold online; €25 Mike Johnson - sold by Declan Falvey. Next week’s Lotto Jackpot will be €10,400.

JUNIOR: Best of Luck to the Laune Rangers ‘B’ Team who take on Duagh in the Semi Final of the Barrett Cup. The game takes place on Saturday next, September 22nd at 5pm in Duagh.

COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP: Commiserations to Mid Kerry on their defeat to St Brendans on Sunday afternoon in the County Championship. St Brendans 3-18, Mid Kerry 1-18. The result means Mid Kerry exit the County Senior Football Championship.

SENIOR LADIES: Laune Rangers were defeated in the B Final of the Mary Jo Curran Tournament on Monday evening, as Milltown/Listry showed their superior experience in the second half to take the victory. Rangers had an average age of just 17 in their starting team, while the Milltown/Listry side – who draw players from Keel & Castlemaine also – were able to call upon half a dozen veterans, which made a big difference on the day. Laune Rangers began the game quite brightly, with Fodhla Houlihan pointing her side ahead after 3 minutes. However, Milltown/Listry took over for the remainder of the first quarter and led by 2-3 to 0-1 after 15 minutes – two goals for Ella Teahan & points for Teahan, Lorraine Kennedy and Meadhbh Rochford (free) giving their side a commanding lead. Meanwhile, two saves from goalkeeper Laura Brennan kept Rangers in the game. Fodhla Houlihan added three well taken points for Rangers, before Ailís Murphy added one at the other end. Norina O’Callaghan & Fodhla Houlihan pointed for Rangers to reduce the difference between the sides, but Ella Teahan added the final point of the half for Milltown/Listry to put them four ahead at the break. Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 0-6, Milltown/Listry 2-5. Laune Rangers came out flying on the restart, as Fodhla Houlihan hit the net for a great goal, while Nicole Moriarty pointed a free soon after to leave the minimum between the sides. However, Milltown/Listry rallied and their added experience soon shone through. By the three-quarter mark, they had added an unanswered 1-7 with points from Lorna Hickey, Caoimhe Evans, Mairead Lehane, Meadhbh Rochford & Ella Teahan (3) supplementing a Meadhbh Rochford goal. With 15 minutes to play, Milltown/Listry led by 3-12 to 1-7. Laune Rangers made full use of their replacements bench and gave game time to their full panel before the game was over. Alanna O’Sullivan applied a great finish for a second Rangers goal & while Lorna Griffin added a point, while Milltown/Listry added three more points before the final whistle. Full Time Score:- Laune Rangers 2-8, Milltown/Listry 3-15. Milltown/Listry captain Lorna Hickey was presented with the B Shield by the person after whom the competition is named, Mary Jo Curran. MINOR BOYS FIXTURE: Laune Rangers host Beaufort in the Quarter Final of the Mid Kerry Minor Championship. The game takes place on Saturday next, September 22nd at 5pm in JP O’Sullivan Park.

MINOR LADIES: Huge Congratulations to the Mid Kerry Ladies who have won the County Minor Championship with victory in the Final against St Kierans on Friday evening. Mid Kerry 4-15, St Kierans 2-4. Well Done especially to the Laune Rangers contingent. Andrea Nolan and Meadhbh O’Sullivan were excellent at the back. Rachael Evans, Nicole Moriarty and Kayleigh McGlashan were all introduced and put in solid displays. Joint Captain of the team Ciara O’Brien was immense at half back and raised the cup alongside Ciara Murphy of Milltown/Listry.

UNDER 16 BOYS: Huge Congratulations to the Mid Kerry Under 16s who have won the County District Championship followed victory in the Final against East Kerry on Thursday evening. Mid Kerry 2-18, East Kerry 2-15. Well Done especially to the Laune Rangers contingent. Half backs Seán Cleary and the captain Rory O'Connor both had excellent showings. Gearóid Hassett scored three super points and set up both of Mid Kerry's goals, while Matthew Leslie scored an amazing 1-12 (1-5 from play). Callum Russell was introduced in the second half and settled into the game immediately. Also on the panel were Matt Reenstierna, Darragh Mangan and Calum Moriarty (unfortunately absent for the final) - all three having appeared in the Semi Final on Sunday last. Congrats also to Martin Stack, who formed part of the winning management team.

UNDER 14 BOYS: Both Laune Rangers teams competing in the Mid Kerry Under 14 Championship were in action in the past week. On Tuesday evening, the White team were defeated by a single point by Glenbeigh/Glencar/Cromane in Cromane. On Friday evening, the Blue Team had a comfortable win against Beaufort in Beaufort. The League phase of the competition has come to an end, with Laune Rangers Blue topping the table with a 100% record. They will play 2nd placed Milltown/Castlemaine in the ‘A’Final. Meanwhile, 3rd placed Keel/Listry will have to wait to find out who they face in the ‘B’Final as Laune Rangers White, GGC & Beaufort all finished level on 2 points & will contest a playoff.

UNDER 12 GIRLS: Laune Rangers’ final Under 12 Girls fixture of the season takes place on Monday evening, 17th September as they travel to face Glenflesk in the East Kerry League Division 2 Final in Glenflesk. Throw in 6:30pm.
