Laune Rangers Minor Squad who defeated Feale Rangers on Tuesday evening last.

LOTTO: Lotto Results for Sunday 15th July 2018. There was no winner of the €8,400 jackpot. The numbers drawn were 17 – 18 – 26 – 32. The Consolation Prizes were won by the following: €100 James Kelly - sold by Jack Carey; €50 Robert Moriarty - standing order; €25 Lawrence Hogan - standing order; €25 Mary O'Shea - sold by E Ferris. SENIOR FIXTURE: Laune Rangers will host Glenbiegh/Glencar on Thursday evening next, 19th July in the O’Sullivan Cup. Throw in 7:30pm in JP O’Sullivan Park.

SENIOR LADIES: Laune Rangers face Fossa in the Mary Jo Curran competition on Monday, July 16th at 7:30pm in Cloon.

MINOR: Laune Rangers will contest the Quarter Finals of the County Minor Championship as they defeated Feale Rangers to finish top of their Group in Round 1. Laune Rangers were in control of this game from the start, and led by 2-2 to 0-0 after 7 minutes. Gearoid Hassett collected a great pass from James Hurley to get the opening goal in the first minute, with a second goal through Eoin Clifford following soon after, while Hassett and Dáire Cleary (free) added points before Darragh Mackessy & Tadhg McEvoy got Feale Rangers on the board with points. Laune Rangers continued to put the pressure on, with Dáire Cleary & Gabe Griffin pointing before Griffin scored the team’s third goal. With 15 minutes played, Laune Rangers led by 3-4 to 0-2. Feale Rangers doubled their tally in the second quarter but the vistors continued to turn the screw. Points by Ronan O’Shea, Eoin Clifford & Dáire Cleary (free) added to goals by Roan Moriarty, Eoin Clifford, Ronan O’Shea and Gearóid Hassett before the break. Half Time Score:- Feale Rangers 0-4, Laune Rangers 7-7. Laune Rangers introduced all four available substitutes for the beginning of the second half, & they continued to add to their lead. Roan Moriarty added a fine point, before substitute Matt Leslie scored a goal and point in the space of a minute. Shane Doona pointed and Daragh O’Connor netted Laune Rangers’ final goal of the game in the third quarter, while Sean Keane (2 frees) and Darragh Mackessy pointed before the latter hit the net for the hosts. With 15 minutes to play, Laune Rangers led 9-10 to 1-7. Rangers would add two more points in the final quarter through Shane Doona & Seán Arthurs, but Feale Rangers managed to add gloss to the scoreboard with goals from Fergal Wall & Tadhg McEvoy & points from Cillian Trant and McEvoy. UNDER 16 BOYS: Laune Rangers and Rathmore played out a highly entertaining County Under 16 League Division 1 fixture on Wednesday evening, and the East Kerry side came away from JP O’Sullivan Park, Killorglin with three point win. Laune Rangers had to do without Callum Russell, Marc Clifford, Niall Fenton, Shogie O’Sullivan & Jack Foley on the evening, while Gearoid Hassett, Seán Cleary, Rory O’Connor & Matt Leslie had lined out the previous evening in the County Minor Championship. The sides were level at 1-1 a piece after 5 minutes, as Rathmore pointed the opening score of the game through James Darmody before Cian Naylor hit the net for a Rangers goal while Lee Phelan struck the net at the opposite end and Gearoid Hassett pointed an excellent 45 for the hosts. Cathal Ryan & Gearoid Hassett exchanged points before Rathmore went on an excellent run, scoring five unanswered points through James Darmody, Aaron Cronin (2), Cathal Ryan and Kieran Fitzgerald to lead by 1-7 to 1-2 after 15 minutes. Rathmore’s Cathal Ryan cancelled out points from both Gearoid Hassett and Matt Leslie, before the visitors scored their second goal through James Darmody. Laune Rangers played well in the final minutes of the first half, scoring three points without reply before the break through James Treacy, Gearoid Hassett (free) & Cian Naylor – the latter a great goal chance that flashed over the crossbar. Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 1-7, Rathmore 2-9. Laune Rangers picked up where they left off before the interval, and were level inside three minutes of the restart – Gearoid Hassett causing havoc in the Rathmore half of the field, scoring two well taken points, before scoring an outstanding solo goal. Cathal Crowley and Matt Leslie (free) added points before Rangers had another goal chance, but Hassett’s shot after another great run was saved at a narrow angle by Rathmore ‘keeper William Casey. James Darmody pointed a free for Rathmore before Rangers were presented with another goal chance as they were awarded a penalty for a leg-block offence. However, Matt Leslie’s shot was saved by Rathmore’s Casey to see Rangers lead by the minimum at 2-11 to 2-10 with 15 minutes to play. Matt Leslie pointed a free for Rangers but the penalty save seemed to swing momentum back in Rathmore’s favour. Alan Dineen and Aaron Cronin pointed for the visitors to level matters with five minutes to play, & James Darmody (free) and Cathal Ryan added another two to put Rathmore in control. Darragh Mangan scored an excellent point for the hosts to leave the minimum between the sides, but Rathmore counter-attacked while Rangers were in search of the leveller, and Aaron Cronin scored a great goal to win the game for the East Kerry side. Matt Leslie pointed a long range free with the last kick of the game for Rangers and final whistle was blown to give a deserved win to Rathmore. Full Time Score:- Laune Rangers 2-14, Rathmore 3-14. Rathmore’s attacking trio of Aaron Cronin, James Darmody & Cathal Ryan stood out for their side, accounting for 2-12 of their total tally. For Rangers, Darragh Mangan, Sean Cleary & Rory O’Connor played well in the middle 8 for Rangers, but Gearoid Hassett was excellent on the night finishing with a tally of 1-6 (adding to 2-1 he scored the previous night in the Minor Championship. UNDER 14 BOYS: Laune Rangers Under 14 Boys returned to action last Monday evening after a well earned week off after Féile. With a number of absentees, the Blue side were beaten at home to Kerins O’Rahillys in Central Region Division 1. However, a young ‘White’ Team had a great win over Ballymacelligott in Division 4.

UNDER 14 GIRLS: Laune Rangers U14 Girls travelled to Cork on Saturday afternoon last to take on Division 1 side Donoughmore. The girls played some great football and had a good win over their Cork neighbours. Donoughmore were perfect hosts and made the Rangers girls feel very welcome. Many friendships were formed on the day and their hospitality was really appreciated. The girls enjoyed the remainder of the day with a visit to Mahon Point for some food and some retail therapy. A great day was had by everyone. Well done to all!

UNDER 12 BOYS: Laune Rangers have three teams in the Mid Kerry Under 12 Competition this year. The ‘Blue’ & ‘White’ Teams will take part in the Division 1 Competition, while the ‘Navy’ side will compete in Division 2. Laune Rangers ‘White’ defeated Milltown/Castlemaine on Friday evening last.

UNDER 11 GIRLS: Laune Rangers Under 11 Girls played in the first part of a 3 part blitz in Fossa last Tuesday evening. They played 2 games against Dr. Crokes and Firies. They play again next Tuesday evening at 6.30pm. 

KERRY: Commiserations to Fiachra Clifford and the Kerry Under 20s on their All Ireland Semi Final loss to Kildare. Commiserations to Peter Crowley and the Kerry Seniors on their Super 8s loss to Galway. Besot of Luck to Peter and the Senior Squad on next Sunday’s game versus Monaghan.
