SENIOR: Outscored, outpaced, and simply outclassed. Laune Rangers suffered a heavy defeat in the Intermediate Championship at the hands of one of the pre-tournament favourites Templenoe on Saturday evening, leaving them facing a relegation playoff Semi Final scenario for a second successive season. Templenoe led by 2-2 to 0-0 with fifteen minutes played as Rangers struggled to rise to the pace of a team that have been soldiering together for a number of years with Kerry players Tadhg Morley, Gavin Crowley as well as Spillane brothers Adrian & Killian Spillane all in excellent form. John Tyther and Dáire Cleary finally got Rangers on the board with well taken points while Shane McSweeney added another, but Templenoe did not ease up, adding a third goal. Fiachra Clifford pointed a super effort from an acute angle but Templenoe continued to turn the screw. Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 0-4, Templenoe 3-6. Shane McSweeney (2) & Fiachra Clifford (free) added further points in the second half, but Templenoe pressed on, adding two more goals on the way to inflict a comprehensive defeat on their hosts. Full Time Score:- Laune Rangers 0-7, Templenoe 5-13. Laune Rangers now take on Spa Killarney in Tiernaboul next weekend, needing a 14 point winning margin against their hosts to avoid finishing bottom of the group. SENIOR FIXTURE: Laune Rangers will travel to Spa Killarney for the final round of the Intermediate Championship. The game takes place on Saturday evening, April 20th at 6:30pm in Tiernaboul.

MINOR: Laune Rangers will contest this year’s County Minor League Division 1 Final following defeat of Rathmore in a fantastic battle in JP O’Sullivan Park on Sunday evening. Rathmore opened the scoring with a point in the second minute, but Rangers had the ideal response, as Gabriel Griffin scored a super goal with a finish to the top corner. A pointed free by Ronan O’Shea was sandwiched between Rathmore points to leave Rangers leading by 1-1 to 0-3 with fifteen minutes played. Matt Leslie pointed a free for Rangers, but the visitors struck form in the second quarter. They scored three consecutive points to take the lead and, after Ronan O’Shea had pointed a free at the other end, they capitalized on a mistake at the back to hit the back of the net for a goal and a deserved lead at the break. Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 1-3, Rathmore 1-6. David Mangan scored a fantastic point to open the second half scoring, and Matt Leslie added a free shortly after. Rathmore scored a point, before Laune Rangers scored their second goal of the game – David Mangan tripped in the square for a penalty and Eoin Clifford dispatching low to the corner to give Rangers the lead. After Ronan O’Shea had added a free, Rathmore kicked three points (2 frees) in quick succession to wrestle the lead back by the minimum. With fifteen minutes to play, Rathmore led by 1-10 to 2-6. Rathmore doubled their lead with another point but Rangers finished strongest. The introduction of Eoghan Hassett into the Rangers forward line caused trouble for the Rathmore defence and they were forced into fouling time and again. Matt Leslie & Ronan O’Shea (2) kicked frees to swing the lead back in the home side’s favour, but Rathmore levelled again with a free in injury time. There was time for a decisive score though, and another foul on the right flank afforded Ronan O’Shea the chance to win the game for Rangers, and he made no mistake in slotting his sixth pointed free. Full Time Score:- Laune Rangers 2-10, Rathmore 1-12. Laune Rangers will face Killarney Legion in the County Division 1 Final with hopes of retaining the trophy won in 2018. Subs:- Darragh Mangan, Eoghan Hassett.

UNDER 16 BOYS: Laune Rangers Under 16 Blue & White Teams both picked up wins in their respective Central Region Divisions on Monday evening. In Division 1, the Blue side registered a great away victory over Austin Stacks in Connolly Park, Tralee. Eoghan Hassett pointed the first score of the game but Austin Stacks went on a kick three unanswered to lead by 0-3 to 0-1 with a quarter played. However, Rangers were the better team in the second quarter as Eoghan Hassett (4 frees) & Ciarán O’Sullivan pointed with Stacks adding one at the other end – Rangers defence getting the upper hand with Cathal Crowley & Matt Reenstierna particularly impressive. Half Time Score:- Austin Stacks 0-4, Laune Rangers 0-7. Austin Stacks opened the scoring in the second half with a pointed free but Rangers replied with a super goal finished excellently by Marc Clifford. Darragh Mangan had carried a knock into the second half but he certainly didn’t show it, gaining superiority at midfield alongside Calum Moriarty, and this allowed Rangers push forward and score five points without reply through Callum Russell (2, 1 free), Calum Moriarty, Jack Healy & Adam Owens. Healy’s point was the pick of these scores in a period where Rangers also produced two more goal chances only to see Stacks goalkeeper Ben Quilter save excellently. Austin Stacks pointed twice more but Rangers didn’t relent, scoring five more points through Eoghan Hassett (2), Ciarán O’Sullivan, Jack O’Sullivan and Callum Russell. Full Time Score:- Austin Stacks 0-7, Laune Rangers 1-17. In Kenmare, a tight first half saw Rangers score a late point to go into the break leading by the minimum at 2-6 to 2-5. However, Rangers were too strong for their hosts in the second half and a great performance saw them win comfortably in the end. Full Time Score:- Kenmare 2-6, Laune Rangers 3-16. UNDER 14 BOYS FÉILE: Laune Rangers exited Féile Peile na nÓg at the 1st Round stage this afternoon in Connolly Park, Tralee. However, it needed a free-kick shootout between Rangers and Dr Crokes to separate the sides at the end of the afternoon . A very strong wind was a major player in proceedings on the day as Laune Rangers, Dr Crokes & hosts Austin Stacks battled it out as Moyvane withdrew from the competition at late notice. Austin Stacks defeated Rangers in the first game as they built up a lead with the breeze in the first half that Rangers weren’t able to claw back. FT:- Austin Stacks 3-2, Laune Rangers 1-1. Colin Griffin with the goal and John Tuohy pointing in the first game. Rangers played Crokes in game 2, and the game finished level in a draw. Laune Rangers 3-1, Dr Crokes 2-4. A Dara Clifford hat-trick and Conor Buckley point putting the scores on the board for Rangers. Austin Stacks defeated Dr Crokes in game 3 to progress to the Semi finals, leaving Laune Rangers and Crokes to play off again in two five minute halves. The sides were level again at 2-2 a piece on the final whistle – Conor Buckley (1-1), Tom Garry (1-0) & Jack Lynch scoring for Rangers – which left the sides taking part in a free taking competition to find a winner.
