SENIOR ‘A’ TEAM: Laune Rangers took on Listry on Saturday evening in Round 3 of the County League Division 2. Laune Rangers: 1-12 Listry: 2-09
Laune Rangers grabbed a late goal through a Mike Frank Russell converted penalty to steal a point from Mid-Kerry counterparts Listry on Saturday evening in the J.P. O'Sullivan Park.
The opening half was a tit-for-tat battle with the sides level at 0-07 a piece at the short whistle. Pa Joy opened the first half scoring with a point in the second minute, this was cancelled out by a Damien Clifford effort on 3 minutes. Colm O'Shea and Pádraig Murphy put the home side 0-03 to 0-01 ahead soon after. Listry wing-forward Gary Kelliher pointed in the 13th minute to let the score 0-03 to 0-02. Mike Frank Russell and Anthony Kennedy swapped points in the minutes that followed before Chris Riordan and Pa Joy extended Laune Rangers lead to 3 points with 18minutes played; 0-06 to 0-03. A Derry Ahern free quickly followed by a Paul O'Donoghue effort for Listry closed Rangers' lead to the minimum in the 24th minute. Damien Clifford leveled the game at 0-06 a piece in the 28th minute before Gary Kelliher and Mike Frank Russell(free) swapped points in the final minutes of the half to let the score 0-07 a piece at half-time.

Listry started the second half the quicker with two early points from Damien Clifford(free) and Anthony Kennedy to push two points ahead, 0-09 to 0-07 with 8minutes played. The game's first goal came in the 9th minute of the half, Sean Lehane sent the ball across the goal and met Anthony Kennedy running in. Kennedy connected well with the ball and sent it into the back of the Laune Rangers' net and suddenly the visitors were leading by 5 points; 1-09 to 0-07. Laune Rangers responded with a Mike Frank Russell pointed free to narrow their lead somewhat. Listry netted their second of the evening in the 21st minute when Lehane again sent a free into the square, Derry Ahern was the player on-hand to find the net to let the game 2-09 to 0-08 in the visitors favour with less than 10 minutes remaining. This however was to be Listry's last score of the game as Laune Rangers finished the game strongly. Points from Shane McSweeney, Mike Frank Russell(2; 1F) and Pádraig Murphy left 3points between the sides with a minute remaining, 2-09 to 0-12. In an exciting finish, Johnny Carey was fouled in the Listry box with the referee pointing to the spot. Mike Frank Russell slotted the ball into the goal to level the game at 2-09 to 1-12. Russell squandered a late chance to steal all 3 points as his effort faded wide. Full-time in Killorglin: Laune Rangers 1-12 to 2-09 Listry.

The game's opening goal came in the 17th minute when Laune Rangers were awarded a penalty. Centre forward Colin O'Dwyer stepped up and slotted the ball into the Tuosist net to give the home side a 1-04 to 0-05 advantage. Tuosist answered through Thomas Harrington in the 18th minute before Pa Sheehan and Mike O'Sullivan swapped points in the minutes that followed to let the game 1-05 to 0-07 in Laune Rangers' favour with 20minutes of the first half played. Laune Rangers pushed ahead with scores from Shane O'Connor, Colin O'Dwyer and Jack O'Connor to lead by 4 points in the 25th minute, 1-08 to 0-07. UNDER 16: Laune Rangers Under 16 travelled to Connolly Park on Monday evening to take on Austin Stacks. Laune Rangers opened the scoring with a point from play from Fiachra Clifford. Just before half time a Stacks point attempt dropped short and into the back of the net, leaving Laune Rangers trailing 1-7 to 0-5 at the break.
In the second half heavy rain seemed to break up the play somewhat, and neither side managed to get points on the board until the 15th minute of the half. With an exchange of points then from both teams and a well taken goal from Pierce Tyther, Laune Rangers narrowed the gap to a 4 point margin. But, then another short ball from Stacks crept into the back of the net and killed off the game. The final whistle blew, leaving a score of Laune Rangers 1-06 to Austin Stacks 2-10. Our boys in blue battled well against a strong Austin Stacks side, & with more players to join the panel there were are lot of positives to take from the match. Laune Rangers ladies went down to Castleisland Desmonds on a score line of 7-8 to 1-10. There was a great display of football from both sides and a very quick paced game. Laune Rangers had great movement of play, but their finishing wasn't quite 100% and Castleisland took advantage of this. Castleisland Desmonds finished better and made more out of the turned over ball.
