SENIORS: Our Senior side got their season underway on Sunday last with a convincing win over Cromane in the Mid Kerry League. They won on a score of 5-8 to 0-5. Team: Jason Browne, Tommy O'Callaghan, Johnny Carey, Tadhg Iarla Curran, Ryan Keane, Chris Riordan, Michael O'Sullivan, Padraig Murphy (0-1), Shane Daly (Black Carded), Shane O'Connor, Kieran Doona (0-1), Daniel Macbeth, Shane McSweeney (1-0), Pa Joy (0-1), Colm O'Shea (2-2). Subs used: John Tyther (Black Card Rep) (1-1) Vinnie Costello, Darren Riordan, John O'Shea (0-2), Gavin O'Shea, Eamon Carey (1-0).

Their next fixture is a home tie versus Keel, next Sunday 9th March at 12pm.

MINORS: Our Minors were due to get their Co League season under way with an away fixture against Listowel Emmets, but unfortunately that game was postponed due to an unplayable pitch. Their first outing will now be a home fixture versus Templenoe/Tousist in the County League next Saturday at 4pm.

LOTTO: Sunday 2nd March: Following the jackpot being won last week, there was no winner of this week’s €2,000 jackpot. The numbers drawn were 2 – 10 – 19 – 25. The consolation prizes were as follows: €100 Julia Daly, Inch sold by Margaret Galvin. € 50 Philip O’Connor, sold by Kerry. Credit Union Vouchers of €50: Tommy Woods, standing order & Lorraine Dalton, Glenbeigh sold by Kerry. Next week’s jackpot will be €2,200. SCOR NA BPAISTI: Laune Rangers Qualifying Round of Scór na bPáistí will be held in the Laune Rangers Clubrooms, J. P. O’Sullivan Park, this Friday 7th March at 8.30pm. The competitions are: Figure Dancing, Solo Singing, Instrumental Music, Ballad Group, Recitation, Quiz, Léiriú/Novelty Act and Set Dancing. This competition is open to any young person from the Laune Rangers area who is attending Primary School. For more information, contact (087) 1278638.

MEMBERSHIP 2014: Laune Rangers is now open to Club Membership for 2014. Subscription fees are as follows: Family €70, Full member €50, OAP €20. These can be paid to Club Registrars Mary Gallagher or Tim Cronin. Our Ladies Membership is also open at the same rates as the men, with the addition of a Ladies County Board Levy of €15 paid by all girls playing U12 upwards.

CELEBRATIONS: In 2014, we celebrate a milestone, the 125th anniversary of winning the very first Kerry County Championship title (1889). The main event of our celebrations is a gala dance to be held in the CYMS hall on Friday, 14th March. The showpiece event of the night is the announcement of the Team of the ½ century – the best XV to have played Championship football for Laune Rangers over the past 50 years. There will be other awards and honours announced on the night, as well as full bar and food provided & it promises to be a great club night. Tickets are available at €15 & can be purchased from Mulvihills Pharmacy and the CYMS Hall.
