Laune Rangers 2-10, Glenbeigh/Glencar 3-8

Laune Rangers lost to Glenbeigh/Glencar in the Mid Kerry Junior League in Killorglin on Tuesday evening, as a late breakaway goal by Sean Roche gave the visitors the win by the narrowest of margins.

Laune Rangers led by 0-3 to 0-2 after fifteen minutes, as early points by Francis Russell and Daniel Macbeth & Cian O’Shea for Rangers were answered by Calvin Teahan and a Rory O’Connor 45’. Glenbeigh took the lead as Micheál Breen scored a fantastic goal but Cian O’Shea added a brace of points for Rangers to tie the game up again. Rory O’Connor edged Glenbeigh ahead but Cian O’Shea kicked his fourth point to see the sides go in level at the break. Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 0-6, Glenbeigh/Glencar 1-3.

Cian O’Shea added to his tally with a free in the early stages of the second half before Eamonn Carey found the net for a Rangers goal – John Francis O’Grady carrying the ball forward from midfield before unselfishly squaring the ball to Carey for the easiest of tap-ins. Kevin Falvey responded for Glenbeigh with a point before substitute John Dorgan pointed three consecutive long range points and Rory O’Connor added another to swing the lead the way of Glenbeigh again.

A pointed free by Cian O’Shea – his sixth point of the game – levelled the game up. John Joe Quirke gave Glenbeigh the lead with a goal, but it was almost immediately cancelled out when Cian O’Shea finished excellently to the top corner. Paudie O’Shea and Daniel Macbeth pointed to put Rangers ahead but a turnover by Laune Rangers allowed Glenbeigh to counter-attack and Sean Roche was left one on one with Jason Browne and made no mistake with the finish.
