Spoils shared in County League

Laune Rangers 2-15, Ballydonoghue 3-12

Laune Rangers faced Ballydonoghue on Wednesday evening in a re-scheduled Round 10 fixture from the County Senior Football League Division Three. The spoils were ultimately shared though, with Ballydonoghue left looking for a result in the final round of the League.

Laune Rangers were much depleted on the evening and as a result, a number of squad players got the opportunity to start.

Laune Rangers played with the benefit of the breeze in the first half, and got off to a fine start. A Jack O’Connor goal was added to points from O’Connor and Maurice Foley to give Rangers a five point lead, before Paul Kennelly registered Ballydonoghue’s first point. Maurice Foley, Colm O’Shea (2, 1free) and David Costelloe all pointed before Ballydonoghue fought back, as Dara Sheehy & Paul Kennelly (free) pointed with Danny Power hitting the net for a goal. The high scoring 1st half continued with Rangers outscoring Ballydonoghue five points to three – Paul Kennelly (2, 1 free) & Danny Power scoring for Bally while Colm O’Shea (3), Daniel Macbeth & Francis Russell added to the scoreboard for the hosts before the break. Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 1-11, Ballydonoghue 1-6.

Jack O’Connor and Eamonn Carey points were matched by points by Danny Power and Paul Kennelly for the visitors, while a goal by Jack O’Connor – a long ball that beat everyone in the small score to bounce into the net – was cancelled out by Padraig Lyons who goaled for Ballydonoghue. The visitors were level by the 50th minute as Paul Kennelly, Kevin O’Donnell and Padraig Lyons points were met by a solitary Ronan Sayers point for Rangers before Bally’s third goal came from their main man Paul Kennelly. Neither team were able to pull away and claim the win though, and points were traded between Daniel Macbeth and Gearoid Kissane to see the game finish all square.
