Role of the Player Welfare Officer

The role of the Player Welfare Officer is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all players at all times.

Eddie will carry this out by meeting with the teams regularly to ensure that things are running smoothly for the players.

He will update the Player welfare section of the website on a regular basis with information on the following:

  • · Dangers of overtraining
  • · Dangers of training or playing while injured
  • · Injury prevention
  • · Different types of injuries
  • · Insurance procedures
  • · Nutrition & Hydration
  • · Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) & Cardiac Screening Questionnaire
  • · Mental health
  • · Alcohol & Substance Abuse Programme (ASAP)
  • · Code of Ethics for Players

He is also trying to ensure that all teams have at least two mentors who have first aid training, and to get more members trained in the use of defibrillators.
