Conditions were terrible on St Patrick's Day as Laune Rangers faced Na Gaeil in the County Minor League.

One point defeat for Minors

Laune Rangers 1-5, Na Gaeil 0-9

Laune Rangers hosted Na Gaeil on St Patrick’s Day at a wet and windy JP O’Sullivan Park, Killorglin. Na Gaeil opened the scoring on the very first play as their main man & 2016 All Ireland Minor winner Diarmuid O’Connor won the throw in and charged upfield to score a point. Dáire Cleary levelled matters for Rangers before Dara Devine pointed Na Gaeil ahead in the 8th minute. A Dáire Cleary free brought the scores level once more and with a quarter of the game played, the sides were level at 0-2 apiece.

An excellent six minute spell from the visitors saw Dara Devine (2, 1 free) & Diarmuid O’Connor put Na Gaeil ahead by three, but this was cancelled out in the 26th minute as Keelin Houlihan put the ball into the net for a Laune Rangers goal. Fiachra Clifford and Dara Devine traded frees before the short whistle, and the sides headed for the shelter of the dressing room with the score at Half Time:- Laune Rangers 1-3, Na Gaeil 0-6.

Diarmuid O’Connor came close to emulating his first half start as, with the first play of the second half, he drove towards goal, only to see his shot rattle the crossbar and the ball was cleared to safety. Dara Devine and Daniel Goggin pointed to put Na Gaeil two ahead before Mark O’Connor pointed excellently for Rangers to halve the deficit. With 15 minutes to play, Na Gaeil led by 0-8 to 1-4.

Dáire Cleary pointed for Rangers to level the scores in the 48th minute as conditions began to worsen. The defences had the upper hand as scores were at a premium, but Na Gaeil corner forward Daniel Goggin managed an excellent point to put his side ahead. This would prove to be the final score of the game as Na Gaeil held on to win a tight battle. Full Time score:- Laune Rangers 1-5, Na Gaeil 0-9.
