Laune Rangers defeated in Minor opener

Laune Rangers 0-8, Na Gaeil 5-11

A depleted Laune Rangers team took to the field on Saturday afternoon, hosting Na Gaeil in Round One of the County Minor League. A number of players were unavailable for the Minors due to injuries, study commitments and a school tour to Italy.

An early Na Gaeil goal gave the Tralee side momentum to build a lead and by the half time whistle, the visitors lead by 2-7 to 0-3, as Patrick Daly (2 frees) and Sean Arthurs registered the points for Rangers.

Rangers improved in the 3rd quarter, but Na Gaeil proved too clinical for the young Killorglin outfit to hold out, and a couple of late goals slightly flattered them as they closed out the game. Meanwhile, Patrick Daly (3, 2 frees), Shane Doona and Cian O’Shea pointed to make the score at full time:- Laune Rangers 0-8, Na Gaeil 5-11.

Laune Rangers will travel to Dingle next Saturday in Round Two of the County League. Throw in at Pairc an Athasaigh takes place at 4pm.

Laune Rangers: Padraig Ahern, Pierce Tyther, Patrick Carey, Oisin Daly, James Hurley, Darragh O’Sullivan, Conor Murphy, Cathal Doyle, John F O’Grady, Cian O’Shea (0-1), Jamie Clifford, Sean Arthurs (0-1), Shane Doona (0-1), Eoin Evans, Patrick Daly (0-5, 4f).
