Laune Rangers Senior Ladies got their season underway on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon with a trip to Fossa in the County League.

Laune Rangers got off to a great start as Rachael Evans scored an excellent point, while Amy Dunphy hit the net for a super goal. Rachael Evans added another well taken point to leave Rangers ahead by 1-2 to 0-0 with fifteen minutes played.

Fossa got on the scoreboard with two points (1 free), but Amy Dunphy added a brace for Rangers to restore the five point lead. Fodhla Houlihan struck for Rangers’ second goal in the 23rd minute, and Nicole Moriarty slotted two frees in quick succession to give Rangers a commanding lead but Fossa managed to add another two points before the break. Half Time Score:- Fossa 0-4, Laune Rangers 2-6.

Fossa upped their performance at the beginning of the second half and scored 4 unanswered points to halve the deficit, while Laura Brennan pulled off a great save that proved crucial as it would have left just a point between the sides had it been scored. Rangers third goal came in the 42nd minute through Fodhla Houlihan to stem the tide. With fifteen minutes to play, Laune Rangers led by 3-6 to 0-8.
