Laune Rangers 3-11
Laune Rangers came
away from Kilcummin with a deserved victory on a cool crisp Wednesday evening
last in a game that saw them win by 3-11 to 0-3.
The visitors got off
to a dream start with a goal inside the first minute from a long high ball that
deceived the Kilcummin goalkeeper before it
hit the back of the net. Kilcummin replied quickly with a point of their own
and then set about the next fifteen minutes pressurising the Laune Rangers
defence. Kilcummin’s play was not direct enough to penetrate a strong Laune
Rangers defence and at the end of Kilcummin’s best period in the game,
Laune Rangers still led by 1-01 to 0-1.
The next ten minutes
saw Laune Rangers stamp their authority on the game as they dominated and scored
1-06 without reply. This tally included the score of the game when, after a
fine combination of passes, Patrick Carey found himself to the left of the
Kilcummin posts and struck a fine shot into the right hand side of the net.
Kilcummin pulled two points back but it was the Killorglin side that went in
the happier with a deserved lead of 2-8 to 0-3 at half time.
Kilcummin tried hard
in the second half but were unable to match the stronger Laune Rangers side
that scored a further 1-3 without reply and certainly deserved the victory on
the day. Jamie O’Donoghue, Paudie O’Connor and David Gleeson played well
for Kilcummin. Jack Cox, Neil O’Brien, Jessie McCormack and Jamie
Clifford stood out for the Rangers.
