Laune Rangers 4-5, Renard 0-13
Laune Rangers Under 14 Development (White) Team hosted Renard on Friday evening in County League Division 9. Having picked up a draw in Foilmore two nights earlier, the Development Team looked for their first win from their first home game of the season.
Renard had the breeze at their backs in the first half & got off to a flying start, scoring six unanswered points without reply in the early stages. However, Rangers fought back and by half time, the sides were level, with goals from Darragh Callan (2) and Martin Fay adding to a Callum Russell point. Half Time score: Laune Rangers 3-1, Renard 0-10.
Laune Rangers were the better team in the second half. Callum Russell added a goal and three points to the score and Shogie O’Sullivan came forward from the back to kick a great point, while Renard only managed three points against the breeze. This was not from the lack of chances created but the defensive effort of Laune Rangers – among them Shogie O’Sullivan and Cathal Crowley helped by Callum Moriarty to hold out Renard. Final score:- Laune Rangers 4-5, Renard 0-13.
It was a great win for Laune Rangers Development team in a tough Division full of ‘A’ Teams. Aside from the above, some players stood out for their contribution to the team’s performance, such as Marc Clifford & Darragh Mangan who assisted in a number of scores in attack on the night.
