Our U16's got off to an excellent start in their first competitive
outing of the season, with a very comprehensive win over Na Gaeil of
Tralee. The final scoreline was 5-12 to 2-5 and the display of Laune
Rangers, particularly in the first half and the last 10 minutes of the
second half must have been very encouraging for the coaching team.
The first 20 minutes of the game was dominated by Laune Rangers,
and the teamwork and quality of scoring during this period was of the
highest quality. Laune Rangers notched up 3-8 in the first half with
some excellent performances by a number of our forwards. Na Gaeil however
did show signs of getting into the game near the end of the first half,
and for the first 20 minutes of the second half performed very
strongly. However, we weathered the storm and in the final ten minutes
again took control of the game.
The team performed strongly throughout the field and all in all an
excellent team performance. In the backline, when the pressure was on,
particularly in the second half, they stood up to the test with very
strong performances by Kieran Twiss, Fionn O' Shea, John Tyther, and
Seamus O' Sullivan. Our midfield team of Shane Daly and Daniel Macbeth
were both very impressive and controlled the centre field throughout the
game. Our forwards displayed excellent teamwork, with some fine passing
movements and scores. In fact, alll of our forwards contributed to the
scoring on the evening, with John O' Shea contributing a personal
tally of 2-6.
